project?
The scope of the project includes approximately 450 Tax Map Parcels
(properties: Residential and Industrial)

Who is included in the project?
The project region included properties in the following areas:
Industrial Park, Traymore Manor, Grenoble Manor, Harvest Acres,
and dwellings on Jacksonville Road and Almshouse Road. If you
received a letter from the Authority informing you of the project,
you are currently included in the project.

Why is the project proceeding?
To eliminate sewage disposal and health concerns associated with
malfunctioning on-lot disposal systems (OLDS).

What is a 537 Plan?
The 537 plan is the official Northampton Township Sewage Facilities
Plan. Should the plan not proceed with the timely construction
of sewers, PA DEP will order the implementation of the plan.

Why was the project not completed
in the past?
There was no compelling community support to initiate
the construction project.

Who is benefited?
Those who will have sanitary sewer service available are benefited.

Who will be required to connect?
Anyone whose principal building is within 150 feet of the Sanitary
Sewer System.

Will public water be provided with this
project?
The installation of public water has not been decided
yet. Due to the economies of scale and favorable cost benefit
analysis for the design, the Authority has authorized Gilmore
& Associates to design the water distribution system concurrently
with the sanitary sewer collection system. Those costs will not
be assessed to the property owners unless the water system is
installed.

Why doesn't the Authority fix the on-lot
failed systems?
The Authority only deals with PUBLIC sanitary sewer and water
service not on-lot private systems.

Is a sanitary sewer treatment plant
going to be built?
The Authority is investigating various options for the disposal
of the sanitary sewage. A treatment plant is one of five options
being considered. It is the Authority's desire to have a strategic
direction established by the end of calendar year 2007.
