FORMING A TOWN WATCH

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP
POLICE DEPARTMENT

Citizens Working Together to Solve Concerns and Issues Affecting the Quality of Life in their Neighborhood!

DO WE NEED A TOWN WATCH IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD?
To answer that question you must first ask yourself several preliminary questions.

1. Do I care about my family, my neighbors and myself?

2. Do I care what happens in our neighborhood and community?

3. Do I want to keep my neighborhood safe?

IF YOU ANSWERED 'YES' TO ANY OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS, THEN A TOWN WATCH IS FOR YOU!

HOW DOES A TOWN WATCH GROUP WORK?
The primary goal of a Town Watch group is to bring the members of that neighborhood or sector of the township together to work in concert to solve concerns and problems in that neighborhood and ultimately the entire Township.

The Members of the Town Watch will work with a police department liaison to exchange information and develop programs for their specific group and area.

A Group Captain would need to be selected for the group.  The Group Captain will coordinate meetings and other events with the members of the group and the police department liaison.

The group may decide that their meetings should be formal or informal.  Remember, the purpose of the group is to improve and/or maintain the quality of life in your area.

Many groups utilize their meetings as a great time to meet new neighbors and/or reaffirm established friendships.

Remember, Quality of Life issues mean more than just addressing perceived crime issues.
