Household refuse collection days stay the same. Household refuse is collected twice a week. Each household is limited to six bags or cans of household refuse per collection day. We start trash collection at 6 AM, so it is better to get your trash to the curb the night before, but no earlier than 6 PM.
Use plastic or metal trash cans or plastic trash bags. Please do not put out trash in paper bags, cardboard boxes or containers smaller than 20 gallons. These can cause litter!

Bulk Items are large items of solid waste that need to be able to fit inside the truck, i.e., major appliances and large auto parts. Bulk items which require collection in other than a conventional compactor refuse collection vehicle are items such as carpet, furniture, large trees and branches. One bulk item may be put out each week on the second collection day. Carpets must be cut into three foot widths, rolled up, and tied or taped. Up to 10 rolls of carpet may be put out per collection. Large pieces of glass must be taped.
Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers contain Freon (CFC's) that by law must be removed before they can be disposed of. There is no charge for this, but you MUST call 1-800-432-1616 to arrange for collection. Call first, do not place the appliance out for collection.
Recycling days stays the same. Recycle bins are available for purchase from the Township for $10. Recyclables are collected once a week. Please have your recyclables out by 6 AM. Use any color bin for recyclables. You can mix bottles, jars, cans, glass, metals and plastics.
Newspaper, magazines, office paper and phone books less then an inch and a half thick must be tied in bundles or bagged with paper grocery bags and placed at curb.
Aluminum beverage cans. Steel and tin food or beverage cans. Please rinse the can remove the lid or push it into the can. No need to remove labels.
Food and beverage containers such as jars and bottles only! Clear, green or brown glass. Remove lids and rinse. Leave labels on. Cans and glass may be mixed together in the same recycling container.
#1 and #2 food and beverage containers only. The number is on the bottom of the bottle. Most soda, milk and water bottles fit this category.

Yard waste will be collected on a separate day - the day after your recycling day. If your recyclable day is Saturday, your yard waste will be collected on Monday.
Grass, leaves, garden clippings, small branches, etc., will be collected separately from your household trash and taken to a composting facility. Keeping these items out of the trash helps us comply with the Pennsylvania Solid Waste Laws. Plus, it saves landfill space and dumping fees! There is no limit to the number of approved containers of yard waste you can set out each week.
You may use the biodegradable, 30 gallon paper bags purchased from your municipality or several commercial establishments throughout the area. Or, you may also use durable trash containers that weigh less than 50 pounds when full.
You may set out a maximum of five containers of yard waste with your regular household trash. This yard waste is not composted, so it does not have to be put into biodegradable bags.
Starting this spring, yard waste will be collected the day after recycling day. When yard waste collection resumes on April 1, it will be collected the day after your recycling collection. If you recycling day is Saturday, your yard waste will be collected on Monday.

Your efforts to recycle bottles, cans and plastic have been fantastic. Every ton of solid waste that gets recycled saves large dumping fees and helps provide raw materials to businesses who use them in manufacturing. Thank you for helping us do the right thing for the taxpayers, local manufacturers and the environment!
Car batteries, gasoline, motor oil, pesticides, oil-based paints and other toxic and hazardous materials do not belong in the trash! Call Bucks County's Household Waste Hotline at 1-800-346-4242 for information on disposing of these materials. Many auto stores accept used motor oil and car batteries.
