     "Northampton Township is designated a second class township, with a governing body of five supervisors elected for six year terms by the residents of the township. A tax collector and three auditors are also elected.

     For years one public meeting a month was sufficient for the supervisors to take care of any township business. Because this was a farming community, most problems pertained to the care of roads. Some dirt roads had to be dragged by a team of horses pulling logs to remove bumps, and other roads had to be stoned."
