How does a street become dedicated?

When a developer builds the majority of the houses in a development, and has finished the paving of the streets in that section of the development, he then puts in a request to the township to have those streets dedicated.

The township in turn asks their engineer to inspect all of the new streets in the development to see if they meet township requirements and specifications for dedication. The engineer then puts together a list of the items that need to be addressed by the developer prior to dedication.

The developer then has to fix all of the items posted on the list before the township will accept the streets for dedication.

Once that is completed, the township will then make the decision to accept the dedication of the streets. After the dedication of the streets is accepted, a deed of dedication is drawn up and sent to the Court House in Doylestown to be filed, which shows a record that the township now owns those streets.
