DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS

NORTHAMPTON
PROCLAMATION

        WHEREAS, The Distinguished Citizen Award was established by the Board of Supervisors on January 2, 2001, to acknowledge an outstanding Northampton Township resident; and BRETT GOERS has been chosen by the Board of Supervisors to receive the award for October, 2005; and

WHEREAS Brett is a resident of Ivyland, where he resides with his family and is a junior at Council Rock High School North, and

WHEREAS Brett has been involved in Scouting for the past ten years, and is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 5 in Churchville; currently serving as the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader. Brett is presently working on a community service project in order to earn his Eagle Scout Badge; the highest rank in Scouting, and has decided to work with “Cell Phones for Soldiers”, a non profit organization that collects old cell phones for recycling and uses the funds generated to purchase calling cards for our servicemen in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, so that they can keep in touch with friends and family at home, and

WHEREAS, Brett has hosted and organized this project, and he and the members of his troop have contributed over fifty hours of service over the past four months to collect more than five hundred and forty cell phones making it possible for many calling cards to be purchased and sent to our military personnel overseas.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Northampton Township hereby recognize and honor BRETT GOERS as a “DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN” of Northampton Township.
