"Sgt. Dinan Receives Flag at Northampton Meeting"

     The Supervisors welcomed home Army Sgt. Joseph Dinan of Churchville and presented him with his Army flag that had been on display awaiting his safe return from Iraq. Dinan is the 30th Northampton resident who has returned from Iraq of the 43 known soldiers who call Northampton Township their home. Each time the Supervisors become aware of a resident serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom a military flag is prepared with a yellow streamer affixed to it bearing the name of the individual it represents. When the person returns home the flag is replaced in the display with an American flag and the military flag is presented to the soldier. In the case of Sgt. Dinan, Northampton Supervisor Chairman Pete Palestina gave the Army flag to Joe's mother Kathy and asked her to present it to Joe. As seen in the photo, Sgt. Dinan, holding the flag, hugs mom while Palestina looks on smiling.
